Tragedy Strikes Nandi County: Husband Suspected in Valentine’s Day Murder
Tragedy struck the village of Chepkumia in Nandi County on Valentine’s Day, as Rose Jerono Ng’asura, 53, was brutally murdered while she slept. Homicide detectives and criminal investigation officers worked tirelessly for two weeks to piece together evidence to find the perpetrator among family members.
Investigations revealed that Jerono’s husband, Zachariah Ng’asura, a retired primary school headteacher, and one of her daughters were at the family home when the attack occurred around midnight.
Police said that the couple had a history of domestic conflicts, and investigations revealed that Jerono was stabbed with a sharp object on the left side of her chest, possibly a kitchen knife. Mr. Ng’asura claimed to have taken his injured wife to the nearest health centre, but instead stopped at Kapsasur market for almost an hour as Jerono bled and writhed in pain. He finally arrived at a private hospital in Kapsabet town, but Jerono was pronounced dead on arrival.
