A teenage rapper’s life has taken a tragic turn as he is set to spend his prime years behind bars.

Abdirahaman Yussuf, aged 19, was on the verge of signing a record deal with Sony, but a moment of madness changed everything. Abdirahaman viciously attacked and stabbed Yahya Sharif, an 18-year-old teen, in the chest, causing his death. When police arrested Abdirahaman, they found handwritten lyrics boasting about the killing of Sharif.

The rap contained slang words such as “ching” and “flash” to describe stabbings.

In court, Abdirahaman’s lawyer, Isah Peart KC, argued that the murder was not premeditated and that it was a “spur of the moment” incident. He claimed that there was doubt about whether Abdirahaman intended to kill Sharif. However, the evidence was overwhelming, and Abdirahaman was convicted of murder by the Birmingham Crown Court.

Sharif’s family and friends remembered him as a caring young man who loved his siblings and those in his circle. His mother, Muna, said that his death had left a hole in her heart that could never be filled. Meanwhile, Abdirahaman will spend the rest of his prime years behind bars, paying for his moment of madness.
